A visit was organized to the Self Help Group (SHG), Fonialanasi, Sadivalu Village, Minicoy
Island, by the ICAR–CIARI Regional Station, Minicoy, on 3rd November 2025 as part of the
Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas 2025 celebrations. During the visit, the village women interacted with the
SHG members and observed the traditional snacks-making process, gaining insights into indigenous
preparation methods, the use of local ingredients, and the cultural significance of traditional food
products in the island community. The programme aimed at exploring opportunities for value addition
and entrepreneurship development, thereby promoting sustainable livelihoods and empowering local
communities in the Lakshadweep Islands.
