ICAR-CIARI licensed “DweepMAS-poultry feed”

A Technology License Agreement was signed on 22nd April 2025 for the technology “DWEEP MAS-Poultry Feed” at the Regional Station, ICAR-CIARI, Minicoy, Lakshadweep Islands, between the ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (CIARI) and Shri Ibrahim Manikfen, an entrepreneur from Minicoy, Lakshadweep Islands.

DWEEP MAS-Poultry Feed is a MASMIN-based poultry feed. MASMIN is a processed (smoked and dried) tuna fish, locally available across the Lakshadweep Islands. It has been explored as an alternative to soybean meal in poultry feed. This technology is unique due to its high crude protein content (70%), excellent digestibility and nutrient availability, and the ability to prepare five types of poultry feed: starter, grower, layer, broiler starter, and finisher feed. It is expected to reduce poultry feed costs by 30% in the Lakshadweep Islands and enhance the self-sustainability of local poultry farms in terms of feed production. The developers of this technology are Dr. T. Sujatha, Dr. Y. Gladston, Dr. M. Ajina, and Dr. E. B. Chakurkar.
