ICAR-KVK N&M Andaman organizes an Educational Exposure Visit for Students of Government Middle School, Padmanabhapuram


ICAR-KVK N&M Andaman organized an educational exposure visit for students of Government Middle School, Padmanabhapuram, N&M Andaman to the KVK on 18th March, 2025. A total of 45 students accompanied by 6 teachers visited the KVK. The visit aimed to provide students with insights into the functioning, structure, and contributions of the KVK to local agriculture and rural development.


The students and accompanying teachers were warmly welcomed at the KVK campus by Er. Manoj Kumar, SMS (Agricultural Engineering). The programme began with a guided visit to the horticulture garden, where students observed the mother blocks of mango, citrus, and minor fruits. He also emphasized the significance of farm mechanization and the role of modern agricultural equipments in promoting sustainable farming.


The visit continued with a field tour to the KVK farm and horticulture unit, led by Shri Rakesh Dawar, SMS (Agronomy). Students were introduced to the Nutri-Garden concept, vegetable cultivation techniques, vermi-composting and Pond Based-Integrated Farming System, which are vital components of sustainable agriculture.


The exposure visit provided the students with practical knowledge in various agricultural practices and technologies, inspiring them to explore opportunities in agriculture and rural development. The visit was coordinated by Er. Manoj Kumarand Shri Rakesh Dawar under the leadership of Dr. Eaknath B. Chakurkar, Director, ICAR-CIARI, Sri Vijayapuram.
