Public Awareness Campaigns in area with predominantly tribal population Seminar - Ongoing Schemes in the Fisheries Sector” and awareness programme on tribal sub plan implemented by ICAR, ICAR–CIARI - Day 12


An awareness programme was conducted on 12.11.2025 to give awareness on tribal sub plan and its benefit to improve the tribal farming in Andaman and Nicobar as well as in India implemented by Indian Council of Agriculture Research, Government of India. A total of 30 participants were attended in this 15 are from Kamorta Islands of Nicobar District.


An awareness programme on ongoing schemes of fisheries was organized by ICAR-CIARI Regional Station on 12th November 2025 in connection with Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas. Mrs. Farzeena P, Officer In-Charge, Fisheries Unit, Minicoy delivered an informative lecture highlighting various central and state government schemes aimed at promoting sustainable fisheries development, supporting fish farmers, and improving the livelihoods of tribal and rural communities. The programme witnessed active participation from fishermen of Kudehi village, Minicoy Island, who gained valuable insights into the opportunities and assistance available under different fisheries schemes.


Additionally, KVK Nicobar organized a Public Awareness Campaign at Tamaloo village, focusing on predominantly tribal areas. A total of 14 farmers, including 4 women, actively participated in the programme, which aimed to enhance awareness among tribal farmers about improved agricultural practices and livelihood opportunities.
